    • Northwestern Michigan College, located in Traverse City, offers culinary training leading to an Associate's in Applied Science degree in the Culinary Arts. The school, also known as the Great Lakes Culinary Institute, is accredited by the American Culinary Federation. Students are eligible to be certified as Certified Culinarians after graduation. There are four student labs utilized in this program, including a bakery, introductory and food-skills kitchen, advanced-cooking kitchen and a garde-manger kitchen. As part of the curriculum, the school features a training restaurant called Lobdell's that is open to the public for lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

    The Culinary Institute of Michigan

    • The Baker College of Muskegon houses the Culinary Institute of Michigan. This institute started in 1997 and features a full-service restaurant, coffee shop and pastry shop as part of the training program. The instructor-student ratio at the institute is the lowest in Michigan. Students can be admitted without a GED on the basis of test results from ASSET or COMPASS. Internships and externships are also part of the curriculum at the institute.

    Dorsey Schools In Roseville

    • Dorsey Schools in Roseville offers an accelerated 48-week culinary training course. The training features a 12-week externship that allows students to obtain practical real-life work experience while in school. Upon completion of the 1,080 hour course, students can sit for the National Restaurant Association's ServSafe certification test.
