Texas Teachers Alternative Certification has locations in six regions around Texas and also offers a distance learning alternative certification program. Since 1997 the company has led the way in the private alternative certification industry by specializing in classroom teaching solely in the state of Texas and working with 1,200 school districts as well as charter and private schools in Texas. Students have the option of enrolling in both online and face-to-face instruction. The training consists of courses in curriculum development and instruction techniques. After successfully completing their training, graduates will be eligible to teach with a temporary certificate while on a one-year internship after which they will be eligible to become fully certified.

I Teach Texas is the first online alternative teacher certification program that has been approved by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The school also provides an online principal certification program. In addition to having a bachelor's degree with a 2.5 grade point average, applicants must demonstrate their competency in reading, writing and mathematics at the time of their application. I Teach Texas offers certification training in a variety of subject areas including bilingual education, health education, theater, life science and mathematics. Students can enroll in either a one-year paid teaching internship or a 12-week clinical teaching at a public school and must have a personal computer.

Applicants must have a minimum of 24 credits in their specified content area and take a reading comprehension assessment. The program provides a pre-service training academy; in order to accommodate working professionals, courses are offered in the evenings and online. Course offerings include human development, effective classroom management, lesson planning, and multiculturalism and the diverse learner.
