Teacher Verification Certification

You need to know what type of teaching certification your child's teacher possesses. The right certification can make the difference in your child's education. Some teachers teach out of field, and by verifying their teacher certification, you can discover if your child's teacher is certified in your child's grade or subject.
  1. Teacher Verification Certification

    • Before searching for your a teacher's certification information, be sure you know her entire name, including the proper spelling. Otherwise, you may not find her certification or may wind up with duplicate names.

Find a Website or State Education Department

    • You can look up your state's educator certification directory online. Most states provide this directory as a complementary service. Teacher certification records are public records, and open for anyone to view. Some sites have the option of looking up the verification information with a Department of Education certification number. If the teacher's name is spelled incorrectly on the look-up verification site, you can use the certification number. The school or school board can give you the teacher's certification number.

    Print Information for Your Records

    • You can print the teacher's certification information for your records. The site will tell you the teacher's name as listed on the certification, the Department of Education certification number, the subjects the teacher is certified in, the type of certification she holds and the validity period.
