How to Get a Copy of an NYC GED

Completing a GED in New York will enable you to apply for jobs that you would have otherwise have been unqualified for. Jobs that require a GED will want to see a copy of your GED transcript, and you will need to send in an Attachment H form to the New York Department of Education, along with the $4 fee, in order to retrieve an extra copy. Attachment H forms can be downloaded for free from the New York Department of Education website. Receiving the copy of the GED transcript will take 6 to 8 weeks.

      Download the form form the Department of Education website. You can also pick up a copy of this form at local State Department of Education office. For questions or information about a State office nearest to you, call 518-474-5905.

      Fill out the form. You will need to give the name and address of the employer that the copy should go to, your name, address, social security number, and the date you passed the GED.
