The Pace Institute is a vocational school that offers specialized associate degrees in more than 30 different fields, focusing primarily on accounting and business management, medical assisting and electronic and network engineering.
Admissions requires a GED, introductory interview and several skills tests to evaluate the potential student's strengths and weaknesses. Tuition varies from program to program, and a full cost breakdown is provided to students at their initial introductory interview.
Prior to graduation, a student undergoes an exit internship program with a partnering area business related to the student's chosen field. The goals of this program are to provide real-world, on-the-job training that cannot be learned in school and give a boost to the student's resume.
Student aide and tuition deferment services are available through the school, but are not provided directly by the school. Staffers work with students to try and get as much aide as possible.

The Sheet Metal Workers International Association provides a four-year, classroom and on-the-job apprenticeship program that provides hands-on training in installing heating and air conditioning, siding and ventilation in homes and commercial buildings. The program requires 160 classrooms hours for training in computers, drafting and sheet metal fabrication. Classes can be taken at one of three partnering community colleges in the area, and students receive college credit for each class.
Paid, on-the-job training is conducted at partnering businesses who provide essential knowledge for aspiring professionals. Once the apprenticeship program is completed, graduates can often stay on with their apprenticed company, and there are transition services in place to help graduates find the position that is right for them.
