Online Colleges for People With Low Income

Online colleges are a great option for adults who don't have the time or the means to attend in-person classes. The downside is that many online colleges can be very expensive, making it difficult for low-income students to take advantage of their programs.

Fortunately, increasing numbers of state universities, colleges, and junior colleges are now offering online degrees at a significantly lower cost than their private and for-profit counterparts. All those listed are accredited by recognized higher education accrediting associations.
  1. Thomas Edison State College

    • Thomas Edison State (New Jersey) College is a public institution of higher learning that offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees and professional certificates in more than 100 subject majors. Not only does the school offer online courses, but its unique portfolio program can give you credit for prior work experience and education, and in some cases you can receive college credit for passing an exam. This means that you won't have to take time away from work to attend and study for classes, nor will you need to pay for them.
