Conflict management training explores a number of topics and participants learn how to identify a "negative' work setting, how to establish resolution strategies, effective communication, mediation techniques, ethical considerations, how to deal with workplace stress, and how to understand racial stereotypes. In most cases, conflict management training involves role-playing exercises.
Conflict management training is available through in-house seminars and workshops. Colleges and universities also offer the training where individuals can obtain a certificate or degree. The cost for the training varies widely. Course fees can range from about $150 to $350 per course. Certificate and degree programs can take up to six months to two years to complete, however seminars and workshops are normally one-day ventures.
Organizational directors and upper-level management staff who engage in conflict management training are equipped to handle a number of workplace issues, including employee discrimination, labor relation disputes and workplace bullying. Participants learn effective listening and gain decision-making skills.
