EPA Asset Management Training

Wastewater management is a critical part in the operation of water utilities. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets standards for water companies and offers asset management training workshops and study materials.
  1. About Asset Management

    • The EPA began offering asset management training tools to help water utilities keep their systems up to the EPA's standards. The Office of Water also works with utilities to further its Sustainable Infrastructure Initiative. These programs help utilities keep costs down while providing high quality service to their customers.

    Training Workshops

    • The EPA offers training workshops around the country focusing on different areas of asset management. The meeting manuals are posted online for attendees to review before going to a workshop. Some previous workshops are documented online detailing the topics discussed. Upcoming dates and locations are posted on the EPA website along with registration information. The attendance fee is $45 (as of 2010) and is non-refundable.

    Other Training Tools

    • Numerous fact sheets detailing ways to train employees and improve asset management can be found on the Office of Water's website. They cover topics such as best practices for asset management, wastewater management case studies, and collaborative working. Free analysis software to help smaller utilities become more efficient is available on the website as well.
