Training courses are available for individuals with no experience in medical sales, as well as for sales representatives interested in augmenting sales and management positions.
Introductory courses to the field are offered online and include information about medical and surgical procedures and equipment, and sales techniques. Topics include modern surgical techniques, virtual surgery, computer image-guided surgery, prenatal scanning, Medicare/Medicaid, personal presentation, medical sales myths and leadership attributes.
Advanced medical sales training courses are available both online and in class, and many focus specifically on improving sales. Topics include skill development in negotiation, listening, understanding customers, closing a sale and developing major accounts. Other advanced programs allow sales representatives to become more familiar with particular fields of medicine, including orthopedics and sports medicine.
