How to Study for a General Education Diploma

The General Educational Development (GED) test focuses on five subject areas: math, science, social studies, reading and writing. You must score a minimum of 410 points per subject section to pass, with a combined total of at least 2,250 points. Prepare for multiple-choice questions and a written essay. The certificate or diploma you receive, depending on the state in which you test, is essentially equivalent to a high school diploma to about 96 percent of employers and 98 percent of colleges and universities nationwide.
