How to Become a University Chaplain With Training

A university chaplain is a religious representative at a university or college. They were traditionally Christian, but now are increasingly non-denominational and may represent a wide range of religions. The exact duties of a chaplain will differ from university to university, but they are generally expected to provide spiritual guidance to students. If you're looking to begin a career as a university chaplain, it would help if you familiarize yourself with the necessary steps along the way.

      Attend university. Although it is not always necessary, a degree in Theology or Divinity looks good on your resume, and will help you when you're looking for work. You may also wish to continue on to graduate school in a master's program.       Become ordained. Most chaplaincy jobs will require you to become an official member of your faith's clergy.
