Find a new college that meets your specific needs. There are many reasons to change schools, and it is important that your new school has what your previous/current school lacks.
Check the new school's policy on transfer students. This includes the credits needed and the credits that can be transfered.
Meet with an adviser or school representative. You will get a better understanding of the school and the requirements you must meet.
Apply to the school. Make sure you meet the deadline. Have all of your official transcripts sent over to the new school. This includes both current/previous college transcripts and your high-school transcript.
Watch for the acceptance letter. Once you receive the acceptance letter, you know for sure that you can move ahead.
Fill out all necessary forms with your current school. You must let them know that you are officially leaving the college.
Change your FAFSA so that the new school is added. Talk to a financial aid adviser to find out if there are other financial aid opportunities available to you. Sometimes there will be scholarships devoted to transfer students.
Make your future living arrangements. If you have to move, it is important to have everything taken care of by the time you get there.
Make sure your current living arrangements are taken care of. If you are in the middle of your lease, find someone to sublet for you. Notify your roommates of the changes you are about to make.
Schedule classes for the next semester.
Finish up at your current school. Just because you're transferring doesn't mean that you can let your current classes slide.
After everything is wrapped up at the current school, move over to the new one. Get settled and ready for your first semester in a new environment.
Attend a transfer student orientation, if available. This will help you become more familiar with the campus and the school's features.
