What obstacles did Sojourner Truth overcome?

Sojourner Truth overcame numerous obstacles throughout her life, including:

Slavery: Truth was born into slavery in New York in 1797. She endured the harsh conditions of plantation life, including physical and emotional abuse.

Racism: Truth faced racism throughout her life, both as a slave and as a free woman. She was often denied opportunities and treated as inferior because of her race.

Sexism: Truth also faced sexism as a woman. She was not allowed to vote or hold public office, and she was often paid less than men for the same work.

Poverty: Truth struggled with poverty throughout her life. After she escaped from slavery, she worked as a domestic servant and a traveling preacher to support herself.

Despite all of these obstacles, Truth was able to achieve great things. She became an outspoken advocate for abolition and women's rights, and she helped to inspire others to fight for equality.
