Walk around UTC's central quad during rush week. At the beginning of each academic term, sororities set up informational booths in the quad and pass out pamphlets to prospective sorority sisters, or "rushers", as they are termed. Pick up literature from all of the booths to get an in-depth look at each sorority's values and event schedule.
Attend several sorority open houses. During rush week, sorority houses are open for perusal by rushers. At these functions you'll be able to converse with pledged (initiated) sisters, inspect the living quarters and get a feel for sorority life. Note which houses appeal to you the most.
Decide which sorority most appeals to you. Based on the information you have read, the conversations you've had with pledged sisters and the different houses you've visited, select the sorority which best fits your personality.
Submit a recruitment form. Sororities on the UTC campus require that a formal recruitment form be submitted to the sorority of your choosing. This form requires detailed information regarding your high school education (GPA, extra curricular involvement) as well as your personal life (personality type, living preferences).
Attend each themed pledge night. Following rush week, a series of social mixers are held for potential sisters to mingle with recruiters. Formal dress is typically required for each mixer, so be sure to look sharp. Although sisters are not judged or recruited based solely on appearance, a refined look and cheery disposition will not hurt your chances.
Await the sorority's response. If your sorority of choice offers you a bid of recruitment, your initiation process will begin immediately. This usually includes a briefing of your responsibilities as a sister and a formal introduction to the rest of the sorority.
