Select an ideal study spot. It should be quiet, comfortable and have all the supplies you need, including books, paper and pencils, and a computer. You should be alone. Study at the same time in this location every day. If you don't have to study, read a book for pleasure. Your brain will associate studying with this place at this time.
Pack food and drinks, and bring them with you to your study spot. Getting up to go to the refrigerator breaks concentration and subjects you to distractions from roommates, the television or pets.
Hang a sign on the door of your study space that says, "Quiet." If it isn't possible to control the sounds coming from the rest of the area, wear noise-canceling headphones.
Turn your cellphone off, turn off all chat forums on your computer and remove any other electronic distractions.
