Donate your textbooks to charities or organizations that mentor or tutor teens and young adults. Many charities accept books and then distribute them to other community groups, such as domestic violence shelters. College books are sometimes utilized to expose upcoming high school seniors to college-level work or for tutoring college students.
Post ads around campus. Find bulletin boards in a main classroom building or other heavily trafficked campus areas. Many students post ads in these areas for items such as furniture, electronics, concert tickets and textbooks. Include a picture, textbook description, price, condition and ISBN (a series of 10 or 13 numbers located on the back of your textbook), if possible. If your college has an online community forum or college newspaper, list your textbooks under headings such as "Trading Post" or "Classifieds."
Contact a local public library and confirm their acceptance of college textbooks. Many libraries accept donated textbooks for their ever-growing collection or hold annual book drives and sell books at greatly reduced costs. These libraries use the book drive proceeds to purchase new library books and fund other educational programs.
Give the books to family members, friends or coworkers. Encourage them to swap or exchange other books in return. There's a great chance that you'll both gain invaluable information from both the textbooks and the exchanged books.
Sell your textbooks online. Some online book vendors specifically cater to users selling textbooks. Most websites require that you input the book's ISBN to receive a price quote. Some websites provide a shipping label so you can send your books free of charge.
