Choose an educational institution where you plan to study. Options include community colleges, junior colleges, traditional universities and online colleges and universities. Look at the course catalog of the educational institution where you wish to study to ensure they offer the degree program that you want.
Select a course of study. Review the program's prerequisites, if any exist. Some bachelor's or associate's degree programs require students to produce evidence that they have completed credits in prerequisite classes that give them the necessary background. Other programs include the required courses as part of the study program.
Set your goal for the degree level that you expect to achieve. Graduate degrees, including master's and doctoral degrees, require that the candidate have already achieved a bachelor's degree. Some graduate degrees combine the master's and doctoral programs.
Complete the program's requirements. Sit with an advisor (or contact an advisor online) to ensure that you have correctly understood the program's requirements and make sure that you sign up for courses that fulfill those requirements. Write a thesis if the program requirements include submitting a thesis.
Complete your application for graduation and submit it to the relevant office at your college or university. If you have completed all the requirements needed for your program, you will receive your degree.
