How to Dunk Your Aggie Ring

The tradition of Texas A&M graduates getting a ring began with the class of 1889. The unofficial tradition of dunking that ring started somewhere in the late 1970s. Some graduates of the university don't put on the ring until they first dunk it in beer. This dunking, which the school does not endorse or encourage, is supposed to be done just once.

Instructions

    • 1

Get as many of your friends and family together as possible for the event. Most Aggies prefer to do their dunking in a crowd.

    • 2

Slowly fill a pitcher with beer while tilting the pitcher to the side. This technique limits the amount of foam head on the top of your beer.

    • 3

Drop the new ring into the pitcher.

    • 4

Drink the beer until the ring hits your lips. Remove the ring and put it on the ring finger of your right hand.
