How to Live in a Dorm Room With a Lot of Stuff

Moving into your new dorm room can be overwhelming, especially when you are not sure what you need and what you don't. After a couple of months of college living, you should know what's been sitting around collecting dust and what you actually use on a daily or weekly basis. The most efficient way to live in a dorm room with a lot of stuff is to organize and declutter your dorm room to find a place for everything neatly.

Keep it simple. Pack away and take home all the things you don't really need or use. Take home clothes for seasons already passed to free up closet space. If you are far from home, pack them tightly into your suitcase and store it in the back of your closet.

Get four cinder or wood blocks to raise your bed off the floor and give you extra space for storage. Put small items like toiletries in small storage boxes and put them underneath the bed as well as your suitcase if there is no room in your closet. Store all of your CDs and DVDs in a carrying binder rather than having a bunch of cases all over your room.

Hang up a cork board with a calender above your desk. Write down project due dates, homework and other important dates. Keep your desk organized with file folders to place homework in, which makes it easier to find your assignments.

Pick up some bright, colorful storage crates to store old books, clothes and other items you can't find a place for. Stack them in rows of two or three to get rid of clutter and create a more organized room.
