Type the following on the upper left-hand corner of your document: your name, your instructor's name, the course and the date. Use double-spacing between each line of text. Your heading should look like the following (except double-spaced):
Your Name
Instructor Name
Course
Date
Double space again from the heading and then center align the cursor. Type the paper's title. You do not need to italicize or underline the title, or use quote marks. Use standard capitalization, not all caps.
Italicize or use quotation marks for any other works mentioned in your title. For example, if you are using Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" in your title, your title would look like this: The Meaning of Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken."
Insert a double space between your title and the first line of text. Press the tab key to indent the first line of the paragraph.
Insert a header with your last name and the page number in the upper right-hand corner. Most word processing programs have a menu that allows you to insert a custom header by clicking on "Insert" followed by "Header." Leave at least one space between your last name and the page number.
