Case Western Reserve University offers a video game design degree program through the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. The school offers a "Virtual Worlds Gaming and Simulation Lab" that is set up to teach the gaming and simulation courses the university offers. The program has reciprocal agreements with other departments in the university and the Cleveland Institute of Art to expose students to a variety of learning experiences.

Miami University in Oxford offers an Academy for Game Design summer camp for teenagers 13 to 18 years of age. The two-week camp introduces students to the same software that creates games such as "Halo." Students have the opportunity to create their own game characters and level and load them into the "Unreal Game Engine" for everyone to play.
