The Maxwell School at Syracuse University boasts one of the nation's leading research groups in urban and real estate economics. Faculty members have co-edited the "Journal of Urban Economics" and served on the boards of other peer-reviewed journals in the field, including the "Journal of Housing Research" and the "Journal of Real Estate Finance." Syracuse offers two semester-length doctoral-level courses in urban economics.

Berkeley's Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics teaches students and real estate professionals, and supports urban economic research. Students in the real estate program at Berkeley's Haas School of Business, as well as the university's environmental design and public policy schools, can access the Fisher Center's resources, which include research seminars. For real estate professionals, the Fisher Center holds an annual conference that discusses developments and trends in the field.

Coursework in the program covers real estate valuation, market analysis, real estate property, urban and regional economics, and finance to prepare students for real estate careers.

The Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia calls its Urban Land Economics Division one of the best in the world, with a faculty that serves on the boards of the Journal of Urban Economics, Real Estate Economics and other peer-reviewed publications.
