WyoTech offers a Collision Refinishing Technology Program. The course is available in several areas of concentration, including trim and upholstery, street rod and fabrication, motor-sports chassis fabrication and applied service management, which can train students to operate their own shop. Students take two collision-repair courses to learn the fundamentals of restoring cars such as panel repair, structural straightening and squeeze-type resistance spot wielding. During the refinishing courses, students learn many techniques such as spot repair, surface preparation and damage analysis. WyoTech has campuses in Pennsylvania, Florida, California and Wyoming.
Universal Technical Institute offers a 51-week Collision Repair & Refinish Technology Training program. Students learn frame alignment, welding, custom refinishing and mechanical/electrical repair. The Collision Repair & Refinish Technology Training program is available at the institute's Houston, Texas, campus and the Sacramento, Calif., campus.
New England Institute of Technology in Warwick, RI, offers an associate degree in Automotive Collision Repair Technology. The program provides an in-depth education of collision repair, refinishing and auto-body technology. Students learn paint-refinishing techniques, body-damage repair, glass installation and sheet-metal repair and replacement, as well as how to repair brakes, heating and air conditioning and suspension systems, both through classroom instruction and with hands-on practical experience.
Lanier Technical College in Oakwood, Ga., offers an Automotive Collision Repair diploma program with a concentration in automotive painting and refinishing or major automotive collision. Students learn the fundamentals of automotive repair, such as trim and accessories, mechanical and electrical systems and body-repair techniques. The Automotive Collision Repair program also focuses on developing a student's skills and knowledge necessary to successfully acquire and retain a technician position, as well as advance in his career.
