Staging and Redesign Schools

Home staging is done to prepare a house to sell so that it is appealing to buyers. Home redesign is a personal choice to enhance a living space with furnishings that may already be in a house, or with new items. A variety of schools in North America offer courses in staging and redesign.
  1. Transformations Staging and Redesign School

    • Transformations Staging and Redesign School is located in Jacksonville, Florida, in the resort community of Queens Harbour Yacht Club. The school offers three- and five-day certification courses. The three-day staging class allows graduates to become certified in real estate staging. Classes are limited to five students and include a classroom setting and two hands-on makeovers.

      The five-day redesign and staging class also involves a classroom setting, but offers four hands-on makeovers. Only five students are permitted in this class and it includes a continental breakfast and lunch for each day of the course. An instruction manual is included.

    Midwest Staging Redesign Institute

    • Located in Naperville, Illinois, Midwest Staging Redesign Institute offers a variety of courses for students. A three-day real estate staging courseincludes two home stagings, role-play interactions and learning how to stage vacant homes with rental furnishings or the student's own inventory.

      There are also three- and five-day courses in interior redesign. The three-day course focuses on furniture placement, lighting, art and accessories. Students participate in redesigns in three different homes and have to complete a variety of hands-on homework assignments. The five-day course involves role-play. Students also develop focused marketing skills and learn to use photography.

    National Redesign Institute

    • National Redesign Institute offers classes in many cities across the U.S. This school offers a five-day course in interior redesign and staging, for both novices and experienced designers. The first part of the course covers topics such as design elements, building a portfolio, creating client relationships and decorating. It includes hands-on training at redesign or staging sites. The next section of the course teaches students marketing and networking, developing a brand, presentation techniques and ideas and ways to jump-start a business. The final portion deals with business concepts such as start-up procedures and costs, plans and legalities.

    Sun on My Back Redesigns

    • Located in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada, Sun on My Back Redesigns provides a five-day home staging and redesign course. The first day of the course involves one day of staging and redesign decorating theory in the classroom, focusing on such concepts as color schemes and principles. Two full days are devoted to hands-on experience in clients' homes, while two days are spent learning about business aspects such as marketing and selling. All graduates of the course receive ongoing professional development.
