Universal Technical Institute provides education for auto mechanics at several campuses across the United States. Wyoming Technical Institute, popularly known as WyoTech, offers automotive mechanic courses throughout the country. Classes are available on a part-time basis in the evening. The training at Wyoming Technical Institute includes chassis, driveability diagnostics, drivetrains and basic engine maintenance systems. Students at WyoTech learn both in the classroom and with hands-on automotive projects that allow them intimate, firsthand knowledge with the field of automotive mechanics.

Citrus College in Glendora, California, offers a number of programs in automotive technology. Six programs confer certificates in automotive repair, including underhood specialist, undercar and drivetrain specialist, Toyota-certified technician, master technician, high-performance vehicles and engine rebuilding. Citrus College also offers an associate degree in automotive technology. Students at Citrus College can begin working in the field during their second year. The placement rate at Citrus is almost 100 percent.

Ohio Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio, provides comprehensive training for students who aspire to be automotive technicians. The college offers certificate courses in high-performance racing vehicles, BMW service certification and complete automotive technology. Further, students may pursue an associate of applied science degree in high-performance vehicles and complete automotive technology.
