Santa Barbara City College's environmental horticulture program is guided by area industry professionals who advise the faculty and provide practical experience for students. The program offers four different associates degrees in horticulture: landscape contracting, environmental landscape design, nursery and greenhouse technology and ecological restoration and management.
Clemson University offers horticulture degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in horticulture and turfgrass. The horticulture curriculum includes biology, chemistry, landscaping, plant propagation and horticulture. The turfgrass curriculum includes biology, plant physiology, Spanish, chemistry and turfgrass culture labs. Graduate degrees include a Master of Science in plant and environment sciences, and doctorates in plant and environment sciences, genetics and food technology.
Reedley College offers an associates degree in environmental horticulture. It promotes a hands-on learning environment with on-campus greenhouses and a community garden. Classes within the environmental horticulture department include floriculture, greenhouse management and landscape architecture.
The Lake Washington Technical College offers an associates degree in environmental horticulture. The program emphasizes plant identification, plant propagation, landscaping, greenhosues, and botany. It teaches through hands-on learning with an emphasis on preparing students for careers in greenhouses, garden centers, landscape firms, nurseries and park and recreation departments.
The horticulture program at Lansing Community College is designed for students who want to pursue an associates degree; professionals seeking continuing education; and homeowners who want to learn more about caring for their homes. Coursework includes interior landscaping, plant identification and garden design. The program's faculty are industry professionals.
