Private Beauty Schools

Cosmetology programs typically are available at community colleges and privately-run schools through salons or beauty franchises. The cost of attending private beauty school varies, but you can expect to pay about $10,000 in tuition if you live in a large metropolitan area, such as New York or Los Angeles, or about $6,500 if you live in a rural part of the country. Financial aid, which includes loans, scholarship grants and payment plans, is available for most accredited cosmetology programs.
