    • Niagra College Canada offers three different graphic design programs, ranging in length from one year to three years. Pre-media and design acts as a survey course, introducing students to the field of media and design, including web design and photography. The art and design fundamentals program requires one year to complete and covers areas, such as typography, art history, illustration studios, two- and three-dimensional design techniques, digital image manipulation and the computer applications of design. The three year graphic design advanced diploma program allows students to gain more than 1,800 hours of production and design experience.

    • Reeves College provides a computer graphic design diploma at a variety of locations in Alberta, including two in Calgary and one in Edmonton. The program begins by introducing students to key computer concepts, such as Internet security. Students learn key software for the trade, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, page layout software and Dreamweaver. Additionally, students are trained in the proper use of HTML coding for their websites. However, the program teaches students more than just how to use computers. Courses also are given in graphic arts and layout. Finally, students are placed into positions outside of the academy to acquire real world job experience during their practicum.
