Georgia Perimeter College, located outside of Atlanta in Dunwoody, offers a program through the Department of Dental Hygiene. Clayton State University is located in Morrow, Georgia, about 10 miles outside of Atlanta. The Department of Dental Hygiene at Clayton State offers two accredited programs. The initial licensure program consists of eight semesters of study leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. Clayton State also offers a bachelor's program for current hygienists who have an associate's degree and desire further education.

Located less than an hour from Atlanta, Lanier Technical College is another option for area residents interested in dental hygiene careers. The program is offered in conjunction with Gainesville State College. You must complete general education requirements at Gainesville State before applying to Lanier's dental hygiene program. Graduates are awarded a diploma in dental hygiene from Lanier and an Associate of Applied Science from Gainesville State. The program has selective admission and typically takes seven quarters to complete.
