Houston Community College Southwest offers a 26 credit hour certificate in medical coding and transcription.
Coding and transcription are two different areas of discipline; so studying both may be a good way to increase job prospects. In addition to studying medical terminology, computer applications, and the basics of coding and transcription, students will also learn basic Spanish conversation. Due to the Spanish-speaking population in the Houston area, this knowledge can be very helpful.
In addition to offering in-person courses, this school also offers some courses online and via DVD.
