HVAC Schools in New Hampshire

The field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) focuses on the design, implementation, installation, repair and maintenance of cooling and heating systems. Students interested in working in HVAC can pursue several career paths ranging from HVAC technicians who repair and maintain existing systems to working as an environmental or mechanical engineer designing systems. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the HVAC field will continue to offer excellent employment opportunities through 2016.
  1. Manchester Community College

    • Students enrolled at Manchester Community College (MCC) can earn an associate degree in HVAC technology as well as several specialized certificates in air conditioning and refrigeration, gas appliance installation and service and heating services. The three tracks range from two to four years in length; to achieve the associate degree, a student must complete 70 credit hours. Courses combine classroom learning with practical hands-on instruction in mathematics, electricity, and technical subjects such as refrigeration theory and fundamentals of heating. To register for the program, a student must have already completed several science courses and also Algebra I and II. All 3,000 of MCC’s students attend courses on their riverside campus in downtown Manchester.

    Lakes Region Community College

    • Students attending Lakes Region Community College can train for future careers in HVAC technology by earning an Associate Degree in Energy Services & Technology with an HVAC certificate. This program trains students in environmentally friendly energy systems design and implementation. Required courses include classroom training in subjects such as physics and electricity combined with practical instruction in heating and cooling systems, indoor air quality control, HVAC systems and controls and facility electrical systems, among others. In order to graduate with an associate degree, students must complete 66 credit hours of coursework.

    Tempcon

    • Tempcon offers on-site and region-specific HVAC training seminars for the HVAC technicians and professionals employed at corporations, colleges, hospitals, the military and schools. Instructors design seminars to increase technical proficiency in the operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems. Students and companies can register to take one of five different week-long seminars that combine classroom lecture and hands-on practical learning. In Tempcon’s more than 30 years of operation, they have offered training to over 4,500 HVAC technicians. All seminars tailor the training provided to the specific HVAC systems a company already has in place. The cost depends on the number of employees enrolled and covers all textbooks and classroom materials. At the end of the training period, each employee receives a certificate.
