Southwest Tennessee Community College offers several programs for students and boasts a small class size, nominal cost and full accreditation. The school offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in nursing with an LPN mobility track. This track of study is a terminal degree, and students can enter the work force after completing the state certification test. The program is 65 credit hours long and requires three prerequisites: principles of anatomy and physiology I, principles of anatomy and physiology II and microbiology. After completion of the prerequisites, students can expect to finish the program in a year.

The Tennessee Technology Center's LPN program prepares its students to take the state certification exam. The Tennessee Technology Center uses classroom, laboratory and clinical settings for instruction. During the program, students learn several skills, including taking vital signs, treating bedsores, preparing and giving injections, applying dressings and massage therapy. Once a student completes the center's program, she or he is eligible to take the state nursing exam. After passing, the student can then apply to become an LPN. The Tennessee Technology Center has a specific enrollment process. To enroll, students must first take a Compass exam that evaluates basic writing, reading and math skills. After taking the Compass test, students can apply to the school.

Though the National College's primary goal is to train students in business, it also has several medical programs for students. The National College claims that it trains people in vocations that are in demand and well-defined. Students enrolled in associate's degree programs at National College also will take a few bachelor's level courses. The National College claims that this is how it can maintain its competitive edge in the job market. Students interested in becoming an LPN at the National College will study anatomy and physiology, psychology, fundamentals of nursing, introduction to pharmacology, microbiology, nutrition, rescue operations and more.
