Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Wistar Institute offers a training program for biomedical technicians. Combining academic courses and specialized laboratory training, this program offers students a chance to earn an Associate's degree while acquiring the skills needed to compete in the workplace. To complete training, students must take courses in science, culture and technology at the Community College of Philadelphia, and complete research work at the Wistar Institute laboratories while working on medical devices they will find in the workplace.

The biomedical technology program offers students training in using and troubleshooting biomedical equipment, as well as computer training in an interactive learning environment. Courses include foundations in electricity and electronics with a focus on medical technology, medical equipment troubleshooting, biomedical instrumentation and integration of computer network technology.

Located in Waco, Texas, the Texas State Technical College provides students with hands-on learning in technology and equipment. Texas State Technical College offers a program in biomedical equipment technology in which students learn how to maintain, repair and inspect the electro-mechanical equipment utilized by hospitals, clinics and other institutions in the medical and health care industry. Students will gain hands-on experience working with all manner of equipment, from pumps to ultrasound machines.
