Montgomery College has three campuses including the Rockville campus in Maryland, which houses the Information Technology Institute. The school has a culturally diverse student body and over 40 areas of study including a number of comprehensive 3D animation and graphic design certification programs. Courses include introductions to computer animation software such as Photoshop, Flash and Adobe Creative Suites, as well as lessons in graphic design, digital and web graphics animation, 3D modeling, computer applications, computer animation, and 3D imaging.

Regent University is a Christian college that was established in 1977 and is located in Virginia Beach, VA. On the Regency Campus stands the School of Communication and the Arts where students receive hands-on training to earn bachelor's degrees in animation. Courses and programs include conceptualization, modeling and construction, texturing, animation, digital cinematography and post production, as well as a Christian course in faith and learning.

Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts is a school of modern technology taught by industry professionals in photography, audio production, film-making, animation and graphic design. The school offers an interactive media certificate to students who successfully complete the cross-curriculum program. This particular program focuses on numerous aspects of two- dimensional and three-dimensional art, animation, and interactive media design. Other areas of study may include lighting and rendering for 3D design, texturing, and hands-on 3D modeling training. Courses in game art and character animation certificates are also available.
