  1. Pellissippi State Community College

    • Pellissippi State Community College offers 10 departments for students interested in a technical or vocational education. Courses include health care administration, business administration, computer science and information technology, early childhood education, four different engineering programs, general technology, interior design, media, nursing and paralegal studies. High school students can also enroll and earn college credit and high school credit at the same time.

    Chattanooga State Technical Community College

    • Chattanooga State Technical Community College has four departments that will appeal to the technically minded student, including one department explicitly for technical training. The nursing and allied health, business and engineering departments offer Associate of Applied Science degrees as well as professional certificates in fields such as information systems technology, computer-aided design and drafting and dental assisting. The Tennessee Technology Center offers career training in automotive, construction, machine tooling, plumbing, welding and masonry. High school students have a dual-enrollment option available.

    Tennessee Tech University

    • Tennessee Tech University still maintains a core of programs for students looking for technical education. The College of Agricultural and Human Sciences offers programs for students interested in nursing, agriculture and human ecology. The College of Education is home to seven programs, including one explicitly designed to educate teachers. The College of Engineering has nine programs, including chemical, civil, electrical and computer engineering. Online programs are also available.

    Nashville State Community College

    • Nashville State Community College offers both associate degrees and technical certificates in technical education. Associate of Applied Science degrees are available in programs such as computer networking, culinary arts, automotive, construction and electrical engineering. The college also offers technical certificates in computer-aided drafting, culinary arts, surgical technology and transportation. Programs include both classroom training and hands-on experience.

    ITT Technical Institute

    • The ITT Technical Institute is a multi-campus technical college with three locations in east Tennessee, including Knoxville and Nashville . All three campuses offer training in information technology, computer-aided drafting and design, electronics and criminal justice. The Knoxville and Nashville campuses offer an additional course in business. Depending on a student's major, he may pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science or Associate of Applied Science.
