Animation Game Design Schools

Multimedia art workers (such as animators and game designers) enjoy an annual average salary of approximately $56,330, according to the United States Department of Labor. Animators and game designers find work at video game companies, movie studios and commercial agencies.

When studying game design and animation, you'll take coursework in operating systems, character setup, site design and traditional animation, while participating in campus organizations such as honor societies, the anime club and the student newspaper.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and a letter of recommendation. Students applying to the game development major must have taken a minimum of Algebra II or higher in high school math classes (precalculus and trigonometry are preferred, but not required). Computer programming courses are also preferred, but not required.

    Ringling College of Art and Design

    • The Ringling College of Art and Design offers a four-year bachelor's degree in computer animation, with coursework including Traditional Animation, Computer Animation, Drawing for Animators, Concept Development and Animation Pre-Production. Students take electives and must complete a thesis project. Students interested in game design can work with a faculty member to determine a thesis project involving game design that satisfies graduation requirements. While on campus, students can get involved in clubs like the Professional Association for Design, Fellowship of Christian Art Students, student government association and sports (basketball, quiddich, dancing, softball).
