The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Wisconsin--Madison offers undergraduate and graduate programs in landscape design. The undergraduate program areas include Design and Planning, Natural Resources and International Resources. The graduate program is interdisciplinary and focuses on theory, design, policy, conservation and management. From housing developments to uninhabited natural areas, both programs focus on a broad spectrum of issues within landscape design, including environmental, cultural and political issues.

Students interested in a two-year school can join the Landscape, Plant and Turf Management program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. Within the program, students can choose to focus on Landscape Management, Golf Course and Athletic Field Management, Greenhouse Operation and Management, Interior Plantscaping, or Vegetable and Fruit Production. The program strives to provide all students with knowledge of sustainable and environmentally friendly landscaping methods.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay offers an associate's degree program in landscape horticulture. The program focuses on landscape design as well as implementation and maintenance. Furthermore, students learn to use carpentry tools, operate landscaping machinery, use related computer software, such as Computer Aided Design software (CAD), and install irrigation systems.
