The Bryman School of Arizona offers both a diploma and an associate of science degree program in dental assisting. Students acquire knowledge of the theory and practice of dental science, laboratory procedures, administrative methods and radiography. Students also receive certification training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The associate of science degree program is comprised of the diploma coursework with the addition of seven general education courses designed to improve communication skills. Upon completion of classroom requirements, students have the opportunity to take a clinical externship that provides valuable hands-on work experience prior to graduation.

Phoenix College offers certificate and associate degree programs in dental assisting and an associate in applied science degree program in dental hygiene. The programs in dental assisting are designed to provide thorough training in the clinical, laboratory and radiographic procedural skills required to obtain employment as a dental assistant. Coursework includes preventative dentistry, anatomy, pharmacology, oral pathology, orthodontic and periodontal clinical practice, oral surgery, and dental materials.
The dental hygiene program provides both theoretical and practical training in preventive and therapeutic dental services. Students must complete prerequisite coursework in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, math, chemistry, English, sociology and psychology, as well as basic CPR certification training. Coursework includes health assessment, patient care, therapeutic techniques, polishing, and the application of dressings, fillers and devices.

Apollo College offers a dental assisting diploma program both in Phoenix and the adjacent suburb of Mesa. It is designed to prepare graduates for employment as dental assistants, dental office receptionists or dental office managers. Coursework includes dental administration, laboratory procedures and clinical training.
A diploma program in dental hygiene is also offered at Apollo College's Mesa campus. Students are trained in the theory of oral hygiene in addition to the procedures of plaque and stain removal, x-rays, and administration. Graduates may pursue positions in clinical dental hygiene, administration, education, or dental product research and marketing.
