Applicants for the licensed practical nursing program at Chattanooga State Community College can choose from the day program, which starts twice a year in January and August and takes three semester to complete, or the evening program, which begins once every 18 months and takes five semesters to complete. Admission requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a resume with at least one professional reference and satisfactory completion of an entrance exam (COMPASS or ACT). There are no prerequisite courses required. If admitted, students must have a health exam and criminal background check.

The day program begins three times a year in January, May and September, and takes three trimesters to complete, while the evening/weekend program begins every 18 months and requires five semesters to complete. Applicants can obtain the application packet only after completing the entrance exam. The other 15 Tennessee Technical Centers located throughout the state offer practical nurse programs as well.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, entrance exam scores, physical exam, a drug screen references and a background check. Students matriculate in April and complete the program in 11 months.
