Located just east of San Diego, Cuyamaca College is a public community college founded in 1978. Among the school's academic programs is an Associate of Applied Science in CADD drafting. Students complete core courses and then select one of two concentrations: building design industry or manufacturing industry. The two-year program includes instruction in 3D solid modeling, engineering graphics and survey drafting technology. Students will have hands-on experience with AutoCADD, SolidWorks and Revit, among other computer drafting programs.

California State University, Long Beach is a four-year public institution located just south of Los Angeles. The university is comprised of eight colleges, including the College of Education, College of Business Administration and College of Continuing and Professional Education. Students can achieve a certificate in engineering and architectural AutoCAD that consists of three modules covered over six class meetings. Curriculum includes techniques of computer-aided drafting, intermediate plotting and template creation. Students need to obtain their own copy of AutoCAD to complete the required assignments.

Westwood College has more than 15 campuses across the United States, including four in southern California. Three of the campuses offer an associate degree in computer-aided design and architectural drafting. Students will learn how to use CAD software to create drafting plans for both commercial and residential structures, and instruction is also offered on construction documents. The program emphasizes hands-on training and utilizes practical projects. During their studies students make use of a variety of computer-aided drafting software, including 3D AutoCAD and AutoCAD Architecture.
