Work for an architecture studio. Not only does this experience help you in the field, but it gives you a chance to interact with architects and talk about their school experiences.
Contemplate if you want a narrow niche in architecture. Similar fields or sub-fields of architecture include graphic design, interior design, urban planning and civil engineering. If these fields seem more conducive to your interests, you may want to consider schools that provide these programs as well.
Consult undergraduate advisers. If you are currently in an architecture or architect studies program, the best way to seek further guidance is to discuss graduate and professional level schools with your professors and staff.
Research where famous architects went to school. For example, the famous architect Gyo Obata told in an interview with Architecture Schools that he attended the University of California-Berkeley and the University of Washington for his education in architecture and architect studies.
Make sure the architecture school is accredited by a major accrediting body. The Architecture School Accreditation, the American Institute of Architects, the National Council of Architectural Registration Board, the National Architect Accreditation Board and the American Society of Landscape Architects are the main accrediting bodies in the United States for architecture schools.
Research college ranking sites. Popular websites, such as U.S. News & World Report, compile data to list favored schools. Architecture schools would be similarly ranked judging by their faculty, graduation rate and resources.
