How to Get an International Student ID

An International Student ID is a useful tool to have abroad for a myriad of reasons. Namely, it allows you to identify yourself as a student without having to use your passport and it gives you discounts in museums, restaurants, cafes, clubs and bars all over the world. The most recognized card worldwide is the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and you can apply for one in over 100 countries.

Instructions

  Verify that you are eligible. In order to apply you must be: a full-time student at school, college or university, and age 12 or over.

  Visit the ISIC website at (www.isic.org/student-card/buy-an-isic.aspx). Select the country and city where you wish to purchase your card. Click \"Search.\"

  Select a vendor nearest you and visit them during their business hours. Bring your university student ID card and make sure it is dated, has a picture of you on it, and states that you are currently enrolled. Also bring a passport sized photo, and a copy of your birth certificate. You'll have your card almost immediately.
