How to Get a New Student ID at LSU

LSU, or Louisiana State University, changed its student identification cards in 2010, so many students need to change their student ID. LSU student identification cards are called Tiger Cards. The Tiger Card Office issues all student ID cards. The only way to get a new student ID is to stop by the Tiger Card Office. Student ID is very important as it allows students access to sporting events, student-led performances, and other school-sponsored events.

Instructions

Go to the Tiger Card Office in the LSU student union if you need a new student ID. If your current student ID still has your Social Security number on it, you need a new student ID. Tiger Cards as of 2010 should not have students' Social Security numbers. If your card is damaged or you lost it, the Tiger Card Office can also replace it.

Request a new Tiger Card ID. You need to have a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license, passport or military identification to get a Tiger Card.

    • 3

Pay the $15 replacement fee by cash, check or TigerCash. You will not be charged to replace your card if the old one still has your Social Security number on it. You will have to pay for a lost or stolen card, however. Replacing damaged cards works slightly differently. If your damaged card has reader damage, peeling lamination, faded identification information, or your name has changed, you will not be charged the fee. If the card is damaged in another way, such as being bent, or a pet chewed it, you will need to pay for the replacement.
