Founded in 1979, the Curtin School of Public Health is located in Perth, one of the largest cities in western Australia. The public health program is offered under four "directorates" made up of health promotion & sexology, safety environment and health policy management, epidemiology and biostatistics and nutrition dietetics and food science. Prospective students can specialize in 11 areas within the four directorates. The program awards certificates, bachelor's and master's degrees, doctorates and post-graduate diplomas in public health. The Sydney School of Public Health is located in Sydney Australia, and is well known for its multi-disciplinary program in public health. Students can choose from wide-ranging subject areas like epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion, health economics, health advocacy and evidence-based health care. Most of the programs are offered at the graduate diploma, and masters levels. The school also provides training in aboriginal health promotion and indigenous health (substance use). These courses are also offered to aboriginal health professionals. Advanced professional development training is available to public health workers who want to update their skills.

Based in southern Australian, the James Cook School of public health provides specialized training in tropical medicine and rehabilitation sciences. The graduate and undergraduate programs are designed to help meet the needs of rural communities in remote regions of Australia, and indigenous populations. The program is mostly applied and involves extensive hours of hands-on training. Under the Australian Institute of Tropical Medicine (ATIM), students will learn how to address tropical diseases that affect populations with significant health concerns in northern Australia. Coursework consists of research oriented topics and clinical practice.
