In 2007, Taylor Nelson Sofres, a highly-respected market research firm, conducted a market survey of 1,400 hospitality employers regarding their opinions of the top five hospitality management schools. Three schools in Switzerland stood out among the top five rankings.     • Les Roches offers six academic programs, including a three-year Swiss Hotel Association hotel management diploma, a four-year bachelor of business administration degree in international hotel management and a one-year master of business administration degree in hospitality management. Students at Les Roches learn not only hotel management, service skills and kitchen operations, but also finance, accounting and marketing. Theory and practice combine to train students to succeed in the service industries. Les Roches also puts emphasis on teamwork and solidarity. This school has campuses in Switzerland, China, Spain and the United States. Each program has its own admission requirements, and educational counselors are available for consultations.

    Glion Institute of Higher Education

    • The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accredits this school, meaning it meets NEASC standards for institutional quality assurance. The Glion Institute Governing Board includes the owner of Star Hotel in France, a director of Webster University in Geneva and the dean of the University of Rhode Island in the U.S. Its advisory board consists of professionals in key positions in the service industry, and it has 50 full-time and 27 part-time faculty. Of the 2009 population of 1,643 students, 1,428 were undergraduate students. Glion offers hospitality management programs at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate levels. The school considers applicants' academic records, work experience, extracurricular activities, test scores and letters of recommendation before admission.

    • The Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, founded 115 years ago, is the world's first hotel school. EHL continually updates its programs to meet the service industry's ever-changing needs. It continues to have close ties with the Swiss and international hospitality industry, to the point where employers participate in the internship and recruitment processes. The school believes that while the science or business aspect is of the industry is important, learning the "art" of management is also essential. This school offers a 13-month hospitality master's of business administration (MBA), a four-year bachelor's degree in international hospitality management and a two-year hospitality diploma. Students may choose between classes taught in French or in English.
