How to Get Into the FSU College of Nursing

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there are more than 2.6 million registered nurses in the United States, and Florida State University is a top-rated nursing school that trains its graduates to take the national licensing exam. Ninety-two percent of these graduates pass the exam on their first attempt, making FSU's program very popular among aspiring nurses, and getting into the nursing program at FSU takes commitment, dedication and hard work, which are traits that nurses must maintain throughout their careers.

      Apply to Florida State University and and declare nursing as your major. Meet with your academic adviser and create an academic plan that includes taking prerequisite courses such as chemistry, microbiology, anatomy and nutrition. Maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and work or volunteer in the nursing field throughout your undergraduate studies.

      Apply to FSU's College of Nursing. Submit your application, undergraduate transcripts, letters of recommendation, work and volunteer experience and all required documents to FSU's admissions office and College of Nursing. Submit your documents before the application deadline; applications are generally accepted between December and February for fall admission.

      Wait six weeks after the application deadline to receive your admissions status letter. Once admitted, order your uniforms and complete your health examination, immunization update and background check to secure your space in the program.
