Decide which Sea World theme park would be the best place for you to work. There are three locations to choose from: Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio. Think about the climate in the different locations and the distance you would be living away from friends and family.

    • 2

Study hard. Earn a college degree in one of the sciences. A major in biology, chemistry or physics would be a prudent choice. Take some zoology courses so that you can learn all about animals. Pick up some skills that you can use on the job by taking some writing courses. Clear, concise written communication is important in any career.

    • 3

Volunteer your time at a zoo, aquarium or one of the Sea World theme parks. You won’t make any money, but you will gain invaluable experience and volunteering looks good on your resume. It also gives you a glimpse into what working with sea animals on a daily basis is like and it will help you to decide whether this is really the right career for you.

    • 4

Serve a paid internship at one of the Sea World theme parks while you are in college. As an intern, you are an employee earning a paycheck for a certain period of time, usually for a few months. You will be performing an entry level type of job, such as assisting an animal trainer or caretaker. An internship will give you real world job experience and if you do a good job as an intern, you might be offered a full time job after you graduate.

    • 5

Ask for letters of recommendation from people you worked with either as a volunteer or during your internship. These are people who have worked with you in a relevant work environment and can describe your strengths. Recommendations from Sea World management can be especially helpful in opening doors for a full-time position at Sea World. In general, good references can help you tremendously when you are applying for a job.

Search the Sea World website to find your perfect job and apply online. If you have followed all of these suggestions, then you will stand head and shoulders above the rest of the applicants, and you will be working at Sea World before you know it.
