  1. Working Your Audience

    • 1

Make certain that you are prepared for your presentation before you step in front of your audience. Memorize absolutely everything that you can, specifically the order in which things go, so that your presentation will flow naturally.

    • 2

Arrive early: If you are presenting or performing in front of an audience, be certain to arrive early. This ensures that you will not have any unpleasant surprises before or during your presentation. Make sure that you have everything that you need and that everything is in working order. If you are handing out any sort of supplemental materials to your audience, organize them so that they are able to be easily distributed.

    • 3

Speak clearly and loudly during your entire presentation. If you start your presentation meekly, you can bet that you will lose your audience immediately.

    • 4

Grab the attention of your audience within the first 30 seconds of your presentation. This is why so many speakers start out with either a joke or a shocking statistic. If you grab your audience's attention from the start of the presentation,it willl want to hear everything that you have to say.

    • 5

Avoid droning on: Be sure that your presentation is thorough and organized without being too long. If you are given a time limit, make sure to obey it. Droning on will put your audience to sleep and your presentation will lose its impact. No one likes a disorganized speaker or a bore, especially when they are a captive audience!

    • 6

Involve and engage your audience. You do not necessarily have to have an interactive presentation, but it is always good to relate to your audience. If the audience connects with you, it will want to hear what you have to say.

    • 7

Finish with a bang! When you finish your presentation, be sure to end the same way you started: With impact! This will leave a lasting impression on the audience and encourage them to come to another one of your presentations.
