Find out which textbooks you will require and get them. You do not need to purchase them brand new, but you do have to have them. Check bulletin boards at local colleges and online sources for your materials. Check with friends that may have been recent students of the class.

Don't wait until the last minute to study for a test or do an assignment. When you get your assignment, plan to do it that night or at least get started on it. If you know a test will be at the end of the week begin your studies immediately. The more prepared you are the easier the test will be for you.

Pay attention in class. Take notes as much as possible and refer back to them. Sometimes it helps to go home and type your notes up and print them out for ease in reading them. Keep them in a binder and use them as study aids.

Everyone studies differently. Know your study style. Do you study better with or without music? Do you require munchies while studying or do you just sip on a soda? Whatever your style is, plan ahead for it. Set aside plenty of study time. For some this will come easier than it will for others. Make sure you have a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the household to study. Make sure you are comfortable. If you study better with music, maybe play some soft music in the back ground to lend a relaxed air to the area, but don't go for something hard or with too many lyrics where you might tend to sing along and easily get distracted.
