APA-Approved Online Ph.D. Programs

The American Psychological Association, or APA, is an organization of professionals working in the field of psychology in the United States. According to APA, the organization has more than 154,000 members as of 2011. The APA is the primary accrediting body for professional psychology education programs.
  1. APA Accreditation

    • The Council of Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education acknowledge the APA Commission on Accreditation as the U.S. accrediting body for psychology training programs. The APA-CoA approves programs at the doctoral level, but does not accredit psychology degrees at the bachelor's or master's degree level. The APA accreditation process focuses on program standards, student outcomes and overall quality of the individual training programs.
